Imagine shipping an app that is so bad that the CEO has to step down. Sonos has made it happen.

A tear down of how women still get erased from narratives like Toshi here in the new Bob Dylan movie.

Watched “Evil Does Not Exist” as GIFT, the recut and rescored (silent) version performed live by Eiko Ishibashi at HAU1.

After trying apps by Sony and Garmin I think that Apple should be the only hardware manufacturer who’s allowed to write software.

“ChatGPT is fast-tracking the commodification of the human spirit by mechanising the imagination.”

Nice to find some more socially conscious and also quality rap in Germany.

English language critique of Turkish rap produced in my backyard here in Berlin. That’s the way I like it.

I remember some very early conversations about the Basslet (now Lofelt) and its creative possibilities. Building their own design tools for this medium is a key move and I look forward to trying it out.

Finally a proper English language profile of Turkish star rapper Ezhel.

After their long nap, I took both out for a round of recycling cardboard, pumping some tires and buying some coffee beans 1.

Kevin posted yesterday that he had an extra ticket for Max Richter’s Sleep at Kraftwerk Berlin yesterday. Without a moment’s hesitation I packed my sleeping bag and cycled there with him.

I went to “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” yesterday in one of Berlin’s three operas thanks to this piece in the Guardian. Yes, I have to rely on a British paper for reliable cultural advice about Berlin.

A story I meant to write up for a while is my discovery of the German rap formation K.I.Z. (Kapitalismus ist Zauberhaft) and with that German pop culture that is actually worthwhile and fun.

On Saturday evening I was in the Volksbühne for Stargaze among others to see Cantus Domus perform a set with an odd German band called 1000 Robota. After that there was an intermission and the main performance of the evening by Pantha du Prince and The Bell Laboratory.

Urbanode running from an Android Phone from VURB on Vimeo. The movie shows an Android phone controlling the stagelights at the Melkweg using a colour picker on a webpage.

At the upcoming Le Guess Who? festival, hipsters will employ RFIDs for interesting purposes:

This entire weekend was taken up by Amsterdam Music Hackday for which Alex, Dirk and I had planned to build a prototype version of a surface table projector for music discovery.

Last week I got Rebooted in Copenhagen again. Drove up with Peter and Iskander.

For my international audience; if you’ve been living in the Netherlands you could not have missed this.

Beirut announced European tour dates of which 5th of May they will be playing in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Yesterday, I got myself two tickets for that gig, which should be fantastic.

I recently bought the full version of RJDJ and it is a very fun way to create a dynamic soundgarden based on your environment. I also started using last.fm again even though they don’t have an iPhone player available yet in the Netherlands 1.

So I get bored on a Friday night and I want a decent way to watch music videos. Rather than look for a service which provides this 1, I decided to revive our own toy of a couple years ago, so it’s alive (again!): LastTV.

Vanochtend de megahit aangehoord: The Fray - How to save a life en nu net Nicole Willis and the Soul Investigators.

Jippie! Meer muziek op straat.

I must say I’m pretty thrilled that our little mashup was mentioned on stage at the Future of Web apps.

I used to play music in my room on my Marantz (Eclipse SR-110 & CD-110) system with a nice set of Infinity (Reference 31) speakers. The sound was great. You might think this a bit excessive, but I got it at the bargain bin at Correct.

I’m playing around with Flash a bit to try and make a dedicated player for last.tv.

It seems our mashup Last.TV is starting to lead a life of its own. After the final event, I spent half a night bringing it up to par functionally and feature wise so we have a tolerale offering right now, but some tweaking still remains to be done.

We’re over the first rush but still… Eelke and me won the “Ben jij beter dan Microsoft?” mashup contest with our Last.TV concept.

Eelke and myself were competing in the mashup contest “Ben jij beter dan Microsoft?” (trans. Are you better than Microsoft?).
